Milepost 83 to 90 of the Parks Highway was identified as a resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation (3R) priority that needs improvement to adequately accommodate increased traffic volumes. This 35-year old highway section needs rehabilitation to correct aging pavement, embankment movement, and safety issues. The purpose of this project is to:
• Remove seasonal weight restrictions;
• Rehabilitate the pavement;
• Preserve and extend the embankment service life; and
• Enhance the safety.
The project will rehabilitate the existing highway embankment to include removal and replacement of portions of the roadbed. The roadway will be resurfaced with new asphalt pavement and the shoulders will be widened.
To ensure that all possible factors are considered in the design of the proposed project, ADOT&PF is requesting public comments and recommendations. If you are a nearby resident, business owner, or frequent user of the road, your input is important to the project.
